RADAR & CSV Youth Leadership Programme
Can YOU Make the Difference?
Do you like to take the initiative and want to change the world around you?
Are you a young person with a disability? 13-19 years old?
Would you like to take a lead in influencing your local organisations to take notice of your talent?
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, then read on…
The Royal Association for Disability Rights (RADAR) and Community Service Volunteers (CSV) are launching an innovative programme to enable young disabled people to be leaders and influencers, and get involved in opportunities for youth leadership with local organisations.
With that goal in mind we are looking for 30 young aspiring people to present at three whole day events in early 2011 (3 teams of 10). Through these events representatives from up to 150 local disability organisations in London, the West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside will be encouraged and assisted to more efficiently engage with and utilise young disabled people within their own organisations, giving them better opportunity and support to succeed, particularly in leadership roles.
Who are we are looking for?
We are looking for young people with determination, enthusiasm, and dedication who are willing to help prepare and deliver presentations for the events, and to help prepare an information pack for the organisation to take away that will guide them in their efforts to reach out to young disabled talent.
The events will be planned and led using a toolkit developed by the successful recruits with the help of CSV coaches. They will work in teams of up to 10 in each region, with each young person attending up to 6 days of meetings or training over the next 9 months and sharing ideas through discussion forums between meetings.
“What will I get from attending the Leadership programme?”
The training and experience will equip you with many of the key skills that are crucial to being a leader and influencer. It will put you into a network of supportive, like minded individuals who will help you achieve your own leadership aspirations. You will be the inspirational speakers, the change makers. By helping to present at the events, you will become known personally to up to 50 organisations in your area.
How do I apply?
