Youth Participation Growing Up?
Changemakers in partnership with the Local Government Information Unit has published Youth Participation Growing Up? This report makes several recommendations including :-
> Local authorities should make more use of the growing popularity of Social Networking Sites when advertising opportunities for young people.
> Local authorities should place a greater emphasis on ensuring that potential applicants are drawn from a more diverse pool of aspirants.
> For youth consultations to be meaningful they need to be frequent and youth-led.
> All local authorities should adopt a standard framework for monitoring and evaluation to measure the effectiveness and wider impact of youth participation models in their local area.
> Effective feedback mechanisms should be put in place by local authorities to ensure that the impact of their involvement is made known to participants.
